How to Find and Read Your Clover Processing Statement

Clover statements come from your merchant account provider, not the Clover Dashboard. Where to find yours, published Clover rates, and what to check.

Clover is a point-of-sale brand owned by Fiserv. Clover devices are sold by Fiserv directly and by banks and resellers, each of which holds the merchant account behind the device. That is why there is no single "Clover statement": the processing statement comes from whoever holds your merchant account. This guide is shorter than the others because Clover's public help center does not describe the statement; what follows is what Clover and its resellers publish.

Where your statement comes from

  • Clover's public help center covers setup, logging in and devices. Statement and billing help sits behind the merchant login.
  • If a bank sold you Clover, the bank's merchant services portal holds the statement. Wells Fargo, for example, publishes its Clover pricing and fees on its own site.
  • If your account is processed by Fiserv, the statement is the Fiserv (First Data) card processing statement delivered through the Business Track portal. See Fiserv (First Data) Statement: How to Read It for that layout.
  • Clover's developer documentation describes a separate Billing section for app subscriptions and metered charges, which Clover bills in advance on the first of the month. App charges are separate from card processing fees and may appear on a different statement.

If you are not sure who holds your merchant account, the name on your deposits and the customer service number on the back of the device or on your contract will tell you.

Published Clover processing rates

Clover's pricing page advertises transaction pricing as low as 2.3% + 10 cents and answers FAQs on monthly fees, processing rates and termination fees for plans bought on clover.com.

Wells Fargo, a bank that resells Clover, publishes this schedule for its Clover merchant accounts at time of writing:

Monthly card volume Tap, dip or swipe Online or keyed
$0 to $39,999.99 2.60% + $0.15 3.50% + $0.15
$40,000 to $79,999.99 2.50% + $0.15 3.40% + $0.15
$80,000 and up 2.40% + $0.15 3.30% + $0.15

Wells Fargo also lists a $9.95 monthly merchant account fee per merchant ID, a $10.00 monthly PCI Compliance Program fee per merchant ID, PCI non-compliance fees for merchants who do not validate, no application fee, no monthly minimum, no early termination fee for card processing, and no extra charge for downgrades, chargebacks, voice authorizations or foreign transactions. Other resellers set their own terms; check your agreement.

Reading a Clover-based statement

Because the pricing above is flat by payment method, the statement or portal report will show:

  1. Card volume by payment method (card present versus keyed or online).
  2. The rate applied to each, plus the per-transaction cents.
  3. Monthly fees: account fee, PCI program fee, software subscriptions, equipment.
  4. Chargebacks and adjustments.

If your Clover account is on interchange-plus pricing through Fiserv or a bank, the statement will instead list interchange categories and a separate markup. Interchange, Assessments and Markup: 3 Layers of Card Fees explains how to read those lines.

What to check each month

  • Which volume tier you landed in, if your provider uses volume tiers.
  • Keyed and online share, which carries the higher rate.
  • The PCI program fee and whether a PCI non-compliance fee is also present.
  • Clover software subscription and app charges, which are billed separately from processing.
  • Equipment lease or purchase lines and their contract terms.

FAQ

Does the Clover Dashboard show my processing fees?

Clover's public documentation does not describe a processing fee statement in the Dashboard. Your merchant account provider's portal or mailed statement is the source.

Is Clover's rate the same everywhere?

No. Clover's own site advertises rates as low as 2.3% + 10 cents; banks and resellers publish their own schedules, such as the Wells Fargo tiers above.

Are Clover app fees processing fees?

No. App subscriptions and metered app charges are billed by Clover separately from card processing.

Can I use Merchant Statement Analyzer with a Clover account?
